Vanitas Featured Florists

Open Wednesday – Friday: 9 AM – 4 PM, Saturday: 9 AM – 12 PM at 314 E Main Street, Waterford

Opening in 2013, the Pink Peony is completely family-owned and operated. They are a midwest wedding and event florist also offering everyday floral arrangements in the southeastern Wisconsin area. They also offer natural and locally made gift items and have a small pet area with natural food and products. Currently, the owner of The Pink Peony, Nicole, is in the middle of writing two floral-related books!

Why did you decide to become a business owner?

I decided to open my own brick-and-mortar shop because it was always a dream of mine. I’ve always wanted something that I could call my own and have creative freedom.

What made you choose to start a business in this industry?

I fell into floristry in 2009 when I decided to leave my job as a veterinary assistant. My sister was working as a florist and the shop needed help so I decided to try it out. I’ve always been very creative and of course, fell in love with floral design. Four short years later I decided to open my shop alongside my mom. The rest is history!

What made you choose to run your business in Milwaukee?

We are actually located just outside of Milwaukee in Waterford, WI. It’s only a short 30 minutes from downtown. We love our small town but I love MKE and anytime I get a chance to design a wedding there or deliver an arrangement.

What was your mission at the start of your business?

My mission is to offer the community high-quality locally grown blooms designed in my own unique style. We also offer an assortment of locally made gift items.

What makes your business unique?

My business is unique because it is completely family-owned and operated. I run my business with my mom Kelli. My sister and niece work at the shop as well and are amazing designers. I was even blessed with being able to bring my little ones to work with me. They are now 5 and 6 years old and both love designing already! We also really pride ourselves in offering as many locally grown blooms and gifts so we can help support other entrepreneurs in our area.

What is your business goal?

Our business goal is to continue offering wedding and event florals throughout the midwest. We are looking forward to expanding our outdoor area at the shop this Fall to offer markets and events.
