An Online Exclusive Exhibition

Lily Pad Gallery West is proud to present the online exclusive exhibition: Layered.
Layered is about explorations, possibilities, imaginings, and openings. Its five featured artists combine color, texture, and form to create collages that are greater than the sum of their parts, allowing for a complex combination of emotion and greater inspiration to be felt.
Allison B. Cooke celebrates the interplay of past and present, imagined and tangible, that which is lost and what remains. Leya Evelyn’s abstract paintings consider the painting process, the marks, the color, and the impact of these on the image itself, without literal references. Guido Garaycochea’s collages deconstruct preconceived and traditional categorizations of gender, pushing the viewer to expand their minds and consider new ones. Susan Hall’s soft, enigmatically symbolic portraits are particularly unique. The subjects’ features are universal and, that they are deeply rooted in her scumbled, fresco-like surfaces, gives them timeless nonspecific space in which to live. Kathy Jones experiments with the surfaces and textures of her work; exploring color relationships and the unexpected juxtapositions that happen while painting; the surface of the painting and layers of paint must be rich and exotic, the colors: luminous and mysterious.
Their play with texture, color, and form unite the five artists of Layered. However, their inspirations and intentions garner an experience that is completely its own.
Layered will be featured on the Lily Pad Gallery West Artsy page from October 31 to November 13.
Lily Pad Gallery West is located at 215 North Broadway in the Historic Third Ward of Milwaukee.
We look forward to seeing you.
